Sense

In human biology, "sense refers to a faculty by which external stimuli are detected and responded to. There are five main senses that are typically recognised: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. Each of these senses is responsible for detecting different types of stimuli, such as light, sound waves, pressure, chemicals, and temperature.

The sense of sight allows humans to perceive the world through visual stimuli. This is done through the eyes, which detect light and transmit visual information to the brain for processing.

Through the detection of sound waves by the ears and their transmission to the brain for processing, the sense of hearing enables humans to perceive sound.

The sense of touch allows humans to perceive pressure, temperature, and pain through the detection of physical stimuli on the skin and other parts of the body.

The sense of taste allows humans to perceive different flavours and textures of food through the detection of chemicals on the tongue and in the mouth.

The sense of smell allows humans to perceive different odours through the detection of chemicals in the air, which are detected by the nose and transmitted to the brain for processing.
