A Good Mind

Epicurus was a Greek philosopher who lived from 341 BC to 270 BC. He founded the school of philosophy known as Epicureanism, which emphasised the pursuit of pleasure and the avoidance of pain as the ultimate goals of human life.

Epicureanism was not focused solely on physical pleasure, but rather on the pursuit of tranquillity and the avoidance of unnecessary desires and fears. Epicurus believed that true pleasure was achieved through moderation and simplicity, rather than through excess and indulgence.

One key aspect of Epicurean philosophy is the idea that death should not be feared, as it is simply the end of consciousness and therefore not something to be feared. Epicurus also emphasised the importance of friendship and community in achieving happiness and tranquillity.
